Sheeprock Mountain Trail Introduction: You might feel like you’re on another planet as you round the first bend in the Sheeprock Mountain Trail. As the road climbs above Wigwam Creek valley, the views widen revealing a landscape of charred trees from a fearsome forest fire that devastated the area almost two decades ago. You continue climbing as giant granite domes that were once hidden by trees, appear. The trail turns south and skirts the eastern edge of the Lost Creek Wilderness as it climbs further up the edge of an escarpment. To the east, Sheeprock Mountain’s bare rock summit surveys the damage. After turning west again the trail reaches its high point followed by a short section, through trees saved from the fire, before descending gently to the end of the road at Tarryall Creek.
