Santiago Mine Trail Description: The high-altitude Santiago Mine Trail has a short season, so plan on visiting in late July or August. Starting at just over 9,500 feet and getting up to 13,000 feet with jaw-dropping views of the Colorado Rockies in only 10 miles. Old mines dot the hillsides as you emerge from treeline and continue to climb to the jagged edge of McClellan Mountain.
